Profile of the programme

This PhD programme in Economics aims at improving and developing students’ knowledge and research in specific areas of Economics, leading to original contributions to knowledge in a particular field of Economics. The programme intends to increase students’ capacity to understand economic reality, through the development of their research capacities, as well as of their ability to solve economic problems. As a consequence, the programme contributes for technological, social and economic progress. This PhD programme provides graduates with higher abilities to work in different areas: Universities and research centres, Banks and Insurance companies; Consultancy Firms, Public Administration, etc. This PhD is anchored in the CEFAGE-UE, which was evaluated by FCT with EXCELLENT and it is based in the University of Évora and has recently constituted a branch in the University of Beira Interior. |
Key learning outcomes

It is intended that students, through learning, acquire various types of skills such as: General Skils: Autonomy and adaptation; Independent reasoning, decision and innovation; Capacity of abstraction, model building, intuition;Team-working and communication; Ability to lifelong learning. Professional Skills: Capacity to analyze the economic reality in its several dimensions and frameworks, Acquire methodological skills and ability to develop applied research in several economic fields; Ability to produce and analyse, in a critical way, new and complex ideas and concepts. Specific Skills: Developing and deepening the knowledge of economics and analysis tools (quantitative and / or qualitative) economic; Capacity to use knowledge and both quantitative and qualitative tools to understand and solve economic problems in a multidisciplinary context. |
