Learning outcomes The aim of the UC is the preparation, presentation and discussion of an individual project of original scientific research on a given topic in the field of biochemistry, to be developed within the framework of the doctoral thesis.
At the end of this course the student should be able to demonstrate capacity for critical analysis, search, process, organize, discuss and communicate information about a specific theme of the training area and conceiving and designing research respecting the requirements imposed by the academic standards of quality.
Syllabus The Research Seminar in Biochemistry consists in the presentation of a plan or report to be undertaken within the framework of the doctoral thesis, containing objectives, state of the art, tasks and / or results and methodologies of research work.
In this UC the student must attend to scientific communication acts from a program of conferences and seminars (approximately 20 events) to be held during the academic year at the Health Sciences Research Center (CICS-UBI). Students must attend some of these acts according to the requirements requested in the evaluation criteria.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Tutorial teaching.
To pass the course, students must meet two conditions:
1) Attend a minimum of 5 scientific communications; this condition is mandatory, so its non-compliance implies that the student does not have frequency and the project plan cannot be evaluated.
2) Oral presentation of the work plan (15 minutes) followed by discussion (15 minutes) with a jury composed by the supervisor and the members of the 3rd Cycle Course Board (CB). .
Final grade (FG): 70% CB + 30% Supervisor. Final grade (FG): 70% CB+30% supervisor. For unit approval the FG must be equal or greater than 9.5 (0-20).
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
