Learning outcomes |
To carry out experimental activities in research laboratories to training techniques and to understand the concepts necessary for the application of experimental methods that will be used during the development of PhD thesis. At the end of this course the student should be able to: -Apply scientific knowledge and technical expertise to advanced laboratory techniques; - Follow safety procedures and use laboratory equipment properly; - Exhibit appropriate laboratory workplace behaviors, including teamwork and time management.

Syllabus |
The student must attend a set of laboratory courses involving the application of advanced experimental techniques, relevant to their projects, taught by experts. Available Courses: ADVANCED COURSE I – Fluorescence microscopy and image analysis; ADVANCED COURSE II – DNA vaccines: from conception to approval; Advanced Course III – Medical structural biology; ADVANCED COURSE IV – "Hands on NMR course for cell metabolic profiling"; ADVANCED COURSE V – Immunological techniques with applications in Biomedicine. The student also may attend other advanced courses, which are considered relevant for the PhD project, at UBI or at another institution of higher education, since they have a considerable practical component. These courses shall be notified in advance and approved by the Scientific Course Board.
