Learning outcomes To identify and apply strategies of Probability and Statistical Inference in problems of biological and medical sciences and technologies. To solve problems with the application of Statistics.
Syllabus 1. Introduction to Probability Theory: Independence and conditioning; Binomial, Hypergeometric, Geometric, Poisson, Normal distributions; moments and the Central Limit Theorem.
2. Introduction to Statistical Inference: estimation by the method of moments; properties of estimators, confidence intervals; hypothesis testing.
