Learning outcomes The curricular unit aims to give students the capacity for initiative, autonomy in research and on the application of knowledge, decision and work organisation, integrating components of research or innovation, and should be able to:
(a) apply, understand and solve problems in new and unfamiliar situations, in broad and multidisciplinary contexts;
(b) evaluate situations, take informed decisions, integrate knowledge, deal with complex issues, develop solutions or make judgements in situations of limited or incomplete information, including reflections on the ethical and social responsibilities that result from those solutions and those judgments;
(c) communicate their findings, knowledge and arguments to different audiences, in a clear and unambiguous way.
Syllabus The Dissertation or Project assign to each student will be chosen on the basis of proposals made available by the
supervisor(s). The approved Dissertation/Project plan defines the objectives, the tasks and the work plan for the whole year. It is the responsibility of the supervisor(s) to coordinate the development of the work, supervising in general the following contents:
a) Bibliographic review and analysis of the state of the art.
b) Elaboration and discussion of the detailed work plan, describing the methodology and the planning of work with a view to established objectives.
c) Implementing the work plan approved by the advisor, with periodic discussion of development of the work.
d) Writing and discussion of the final document to submit.
Main Bibliography The bibliography is specific to each subject of the Dissertation or Project and may be partially provided by their advisor. However, it is desirable that a significant proportion of the references are obtained by individual searching.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Student supervision is ensured by the supervisor who is responsible for monitor his progress and guide him in order to achieve the objectives set. The result of the work done by each student is presented as a report with the first draft of the Dissertation or Project that will be discussed in a public examination by a jury.
