Learning outcomes 1.Understand the relative importance of some Portuguese and foreign cultural institutions.
2.Learn to identify who participates in cultural institutions in different conditions.
3.Being awake to the issues of authorship and the economics of culture.

In this Course acquire a particular importance the History of the Book and that of the establishment of major libraries. The program also includes the development of other institutions producing and accumulating culture, archives, museums and foundations, allowing the student to develop practical work in their professional vocation or performances for future or open lines of inquiry to pursue research at the levels of the second and third cycles

3.5.The cultural foundations;
3.6.Publishers.
4.The book and libraries in synchronic perspective.
5.The book and Libraries in diachronic perspective,
6.The Portuguese artistic environment and their international representation.
7.The powers and the cultural institutions.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria In the first week of classes, in detail, the teacher will present the objectives and program of the course and prepare a list of topics that will bring to the attention of students to make their choice. Chosen the theme, this will be developed as a scientific journal article, in a version of twenty pages long, and a short version of a communication to participate in Congress up to ten pages, which will be presented by the student in the classroom, on a scheduled basis, according approach to the various themes of the program by the teacher. Each of the elements represents fifty percent of the total evaluation.
