Learning outcomes The objective of this course unit is to allow the students to acquire knowledge about the different types of business that can be developed through direct use of the possibilities and characteristics of the Web, both in a perspective of creating new business and of integration in teams working in already existing business.
Syllabus 1. Historic evolution of Web based business
2. Business types:
2.1 Information providing/presentation
2.2 Service providing
2.3 Commerce
2.4 Marketing and advertising
2.5 Business partially based on the Web
3. Analysis of business requirements/investment for each type of business
4. Impact, in the business, of the different form of web access5. Geographic coverage of the business (cultures, languages, egislations)
6. Future perspectives

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Learning phase:
The course is evaluated up to 20 points.
Classifications of 10 or more will be enough to get a similar, positive, final classification.
The evaluation of this phase will have a theoretical component of up to 8 points, obtained through a written test ("frequencia”), ea practical component of group works to be valued up to 12 points.

Starting from the second, non-justified absences to classes will be penalized by reducing the overall classification by 0.2 points.

Students need to obtain 6 (in 20) to have frequency (and the chance to attend the exams).

Exams:

The exam tests will replace/improve the classification of the frequency test.
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
