Learning outcomes |
To develop, under the lecturer supervision, advanced studies on the Image processing, analysis and recognition domain. -- The objective is to provide knowledge on the image processing and analysis tools enabling their future use on the research in multiple domains. Hence, several issues on image processing and analysis state of the art will be considered, namely their application on the Computer Vision and their applications to Robotics, Surveilance, Pattern recognition technology, Image retrieval, and biomedical image applications.

Syllabus |
This academic unit complements previous studies on Image processing and analysis with the current state of the art studies based on research papers. The following domains will be considered: - Linear and non-linear filtering, Morphology - Edge detection and segmentation - Image description and recognition - Image retrieval Students will be required to analyse research papers that reflect the technological development on this domain, and eventually to complement the analysis with the implementation of algorithms and methods. The resulting work will be evaluated by a juri composed of two lectures in a public examination where the students will introduce their work results.
