This UC aims to familiarize students with the fundamental concepts of economic law, providing the future economist with the main references on the economy´s legal regulation at the national and community levels.
At the end of UC students should be able to understand the relationship between law and economics, explain the evolution, purpose and sources of economic law, characterize the Portuguese economic system at the light of the constitutional framework, identify the main EU institutions and their functions, explain the various freedoms and poured the TCE regime of competition within the Community and Portuguese, refer to the form of state intervention in the economy, identifying the economic and administration staff, explaining how the business sector consists of state and which modes of public regulation of the economy.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria
At the end of this unit the student should be able to master the fundamental concepts of economic law. To meet these objectives, it will be taught practical classes in which they begin to explain, the concepts of economic law, following its review, at which the students are being encouraged to participate,and to have the opportunity to promote and develop their reasoning ability. Finally, it will be discussed and solved many practical cases on the subject taught so that students have the possibility of applying the contents exposed to specific cases with the proper use of respective laws.
Students can choose one of the followingt evaluations: a) continuou evaluation; b) or final exam.
a) students are subject to two written tests, each worth 50% of the final grade of the curricular unit but the student cannot give more than 5 faults;
b) students do just one final exam, informing the teatcher 15 days befor the exam, by email
