Learning outcomes This Curricular Unit aims to discuss the guidelines of current education policies in the context of globalization, transnationalization and territorialization and analyze the portuguese educational reality face to these trends.
At the end of this CU, the student should be able to: To perspective the current educational policies in the light of the contexts of globalization, transnationalization and territorial policies/decentralization; To interpret the legal framework that regulates the current Portuguese educational system; To review relevant research in the field of Educational Policies and organisation of education; To express essential ideas using oral and written communication; To develop collaborative work; To take responsibility for his own learning.

Syllabus 1.Introduction to the concept of Educational Policy, meaning and framing; 2. Horizon of current educational policies: Globalization and Transnationalization of Education; 3. European Policy and Global Education: Guidelines and actors; 4. Organization and structure of the current Portuguese educational system. The school reform administration: The autonomy of schools, the organization and curriculum management; The educational evaluation; The inclusive school; educational support and differentiation; Education and training for youth and adults; The status of the teaching profession and teacher professionalism.--

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria In this Curricular Unit (CU) we will carry out theoretical-practical sessions combining the expository method with the application of pedagogical practices that promote autonomous work and the active participation of students in the teaching-learning process.
To this end, we will resort to the exposure of content and exploration of documents/videos, with a view to developing skills in critical analysis of educational policies. Additionally, individual and/or group tasks will be carried out with a view to consolidating and deepening the syllabus of the CU (namely through the preparation and/or continuation of the work developed in classes), as well as tutorial monitoring to support learning
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
