Learning outcomes The Regional and Municipal Policy curricular unit has the ambition to provide students with a sound knowledge of the local governance system in Portugal. The teaching-learning process aims to significantly increase the capacity of understanding and analysis of political phenomena in the Portuguese society. Students will be able to identify the areas of competence of the different national levels of government, to carry out critical analyses of the limits and potentialities of the local level of governance, and to think about strengthening citizenship and deepening Portuguese democracy within an autarchic framework. In terms of skills acquisition, students will be able to exercise political or professional functions, in a more enlightened way, in the universe of local autarchies.
