Learning outcomes 1.Provide the students with the knowledge about the importance of cultural differences in the configuration of social relations in national and international contexts;
2. Demonstrate to students the importance of the cultural factor in international relations and negotiation.
At the end of the course, students must:
1) accept and relativize cultural difference, understanding it as a quality intrinsic to human nature;
2) distinguish and value cultural difference in negotiation contexts.
Syllabus Introduction: Intercultural Relations and International Relations

Human Unity and Human diversity
Dimensions: geographical, biological / gender, linguistic, religious, cultural / civilizational, racial and ethnic

Concepts of culture, civilization, interculturality, multiculturalism, race and
ethnicity, universalism and cosmopolitanism. stereotypes

Intercultural Relations in international contexts
Actors (states, international organizations, enterprises and civil societies)
Diplomacy and cultural policy. The Portuguese System of Cultural Aid
The transnational linguistic-cultural communities: Lusophony and the Community of the Portuguese-Speaking Countries
