Learning outcomes The main purpose of this course is to attain a basic communicative competence in Spanish language that allows students to interact, in a simple but effective and appropriate way, in everyday familiar situations, both orally and in writing (A2 CEFR). For other general goals, see Moodle.
-Understand and extract information from medium complexity written/oral texts;
-Produce short texts, oral/written, about known issues of personal interest: say hello/goodbye, introduce her/himself, describe objects/persons, identify her/himself, provide personal information, exchange information on basic needs, talk about habitual actions, narrate in the present, etc.;
-Express her/himself and interact orally in familiar situations;
-Write simple texts;
-Identify and correct errors of interlanguage ('portuñol')
-Translate words/short statements from Portuguese to Spanish or vice versa;
-Know, basically, Spanish linguistic system performance and use.

-Adjective: qualifiers, gender and number, apocope, demonstratives, possessives, numerals (ordinals and cardinals), interrogatives and exclamatives, noun/adjective agreement, comparison, superlative
-Pronouns: subject personals (European and American variant), demonstrative, possessive, interrogative, exclamatory
-Verbs (conjugation > European and American variant): present tense: regular and irregular verbs, defective verbs with CI: gustar, encantar, doler and the like, pronominals, weather verbs, hay / é (location)
-Adverbs: Acabados en –mente, muy / mucho, también / tampoco, some expressions of frequency
-Some prepositions: a, en, para
-Conjunctions: y / o

It will be provided a set of self-assembly work materials and documents, elaborated (or selected from diversified sources), and expressly tailored to the needs of students, by Spanish teachers of the Department of Arts.
These materials will be available for all those enrolled in at the b-learning platform Moodle (https://moodle.ubi.pt/moodle/), which should be consulted regularly. Those students who cannot attend classes commonly, such as workers-students or similar, will have in this virtual toll a starting point of great help in tracking the progress of the course.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Will be proposed various activities appropriate level, covering all the basic language skills. It will promote autonomy in learning and the acquisition of strategic skills.
The classes are theoretical and practical and is based on ongoing dialogue between teacher and students, in grammar and vocabulary exercises, discussion sessions or exchange of views / experiences, and screened hearings (music, short films, news, commercials ...), reading / writing of texts, etc.
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
