Learning outcomes	Analyze Portuguese literature from classical period. By the end of the Semester, the student must be able to: - recognize the literary trends of the XVI century; - identify the major works and authors of the Portuguese Renaissance literature; - read, analyze and comment on different literary Renaissance texts.
Syllabus	1. The Renaissance in Portugal and in Europe. 2. Gil Vicente's theater. 3. The poetry of Sá de Miranda. 4. The sentimental narrative Menina e Moça, of Bernardim Ribeiro. 5. Luís Vaz de Camões: epic and lyric poetry.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria	The methodologies are subject to exposure and content application classes, using New Technologies, whenever appropriate; by discussion and reflection on texts; and individual work. The students will be evaluated periodically in two moments of the semester, through the accomplishment of two written tests.
