Learning outcomes |
Acquire knowledge related to visual development characteristics and most common visual anomalies in childhood. Acquire knowledge and skills in these problems recognition, optometric procedures necessary for their detection and know the specific treatment. Acquire basic notions of development psychology. Know the most common ocular diseases in children. Know properties and applications of biomaterials in pediatric ophthalmology. Know how to perform an optometric exam or visual screening in children. Know the considerations relating to optical compensation, contact lenses and low vision in the pediatric patient. Know how to refer children, according to the Portuguese Pediatric Society recommended protocols.

The classification of the amblyopia and BV module in the child obtained in the CEA is carried over to the examination, as well as the work carried out in the Pediatric Optometry module.
