Learning outcomes Develop skills in analyzing and resolving refractive visual changes, accommodative dysfunctions, and non-strabismic binocular vision disorders, integrating health promotion strategies in a public health context. Learn and apply basic techniques for visual health assessment.
Syllabus (1) Analysis and diagnosis of refractive, accommodative or non-strabismic binocular vision anomalies;
(2) Type of treatments for each visual problem;
(3) Complementary techniques for exploring eye health: campimetry; Amsler grid; tonometry;
(4) Sustainable Development Goals: the contribution of optometry.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The course unit comprises theoretical-practical classes and laboratory practices. Classes are organized by combining active and expository methodologies. Active methodologies include: Flipped Classroom; memory retention techniques. Assessment consists of an individual written theoretical-practical exam (TP), group work between classes (TG), and a practical assessment (P). The practical assessment includes the analysis of a practical case (P1), the written preparation of a visual training plan (P2), and the practical execution of visual training exercises (P3).
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
