Learning outcomes To identify the processes underlying the companies' organization and management as well learn how to define, describe, analyze, compare and identify key issues affecting the modern management.
At the end of this unit the student must be able:
- To understand the emergence of organizations and the specific case of companies;
- To understand the concept of entrepreneurship and the motives related to success and failure;
- To identify the functions of management and the required abilities of a manager;
- To know the tasks undertaken within each function of management;
- To understand the challenges to the management nowadays.
In addition it is intended the student mus be able:
- To understand, to define, to apply and to discuss the concepts to practical situations whether exercises, case studies or action research about them.
- To interact, to make decisions and teamwork.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The method adopted combines theoretical exposition with the resolution of practical exercises, covering the framework, concepts, models and techniques inherent to each of the subjects to be taught. Whenever applicable, case studies taken from specialist magazines and books will be analyzed on the reality of the economic and business environment. Student participation through problem solving and discussion is recommended and desirable. In order to emphasize the practical implications of the subjects exposed, practical exercises will be carried out in the classroom. Thus, students enrolled in the course are expected to dedication, attendance and punctuality. Attending classes aims to make it easier to grasp and understand the basics. In case students miss a class, they are responsible for the content taught in that class, and it is their sole responsibility to find ways to make up for the failures resulting from their absence.
