OBJECTIVES Acquiring solid knowledge on Technical Drawing. Understanding the relation between technical drawing and machining. Introduction to CAD/CAM technologies and processes.
LEARNING OUTCOMES Acquisition of skills related to graphical representation of technical objects, using orthographic projections, sections, dimensioning, dimensional and geometrical tolerancing, and surface finish; Ability to use CAD tools (namely the SolidWorks software) in product design; To understand the basics of CAD/CAM systems configuration and working principles.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Exposure of the subject matters by the teacher followed by practical exercises by thestudents. Execution by the students of technical drawings from 3D objects either provided by the teacher or designed from scratch by the students. Training of the interpretation of technical drawings, getting the students to create a 3D object from the 2D drawing provided. Study tour of manufacturing facilities investigating the design cycle of a produtt from design to manufacturing. Project and manufacturing by CNC of a real object from the digital drawings. Evaluation based on: Written test - TA (85%); home work - TPC (15%). Final grade - AV = 0,85xTA+0,15 TPC To reach "FREQUÊNCIA" it is mandatory AV >= 6,0 valores and a minimum attendance of 50%. To reach approval: AV >= 9,5 valores.
