Learning outcomes At the end of the course unit the student should be able to:

- Systematize historically and theoretically the study of signs
- Identify and categorize different types of signs
- Master concepts of the semiotic process
- Apply semiotic methods in different media and arts
- Analyze, interpret and criticize the processes of production of meaning in cinema
