Learning outcomes |
The main objective of the course is to discuss the relevant theoretical contributions of the first half of the 20th century:
- Understand and distinguish different theoretical perspectives and the fundamental concepts of each;
- Understand and critically analyse the position of the various sociological currents in relation to the main theoretical dilemmas that fuel the debate in sociology;
- Identify themes and discuss the results of sociological research carried out by the main authors of Modern Sociological Theories;
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret and critically analyse the texts studied.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
Directly involving students in the theoretical discussion process, the assessment seeks to ensure that students demonstrate their ability to debate the topics; place the theory under discussion within the broader context of sociological debate and reflect on the limitations of the theoretical framework under discussion; exemplify and problematise the theoretical proposals under discussion, using concepts as tools for interpreting reality.
