Learning outcomes The main objective of the course is to discuss the relevant theoretical contributions of the first half of the 20th century:
- Understand and distinguish different theoretical perspectives and the fundamental concepts of each;
- Understand and critically analyse the position of the various sociological currents in relation to the main theoretical dilemmas that fuel the debate in sociology;
- Identify themes and discuss the results of sociological research carried out by the main authors of Modern Sociological Theories;
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret and critically analyse the texts studied.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Directly involving students in the theoretical discussion process, the assessment seeks to ensure that students demonstrate their ability to debate the topics; place the theory under discussion within the broader context of sociological debate and reflect on the limitations of the theoretical framework under discussion; exemplify and problematise the theoretical proposals under discussion, using concepts as tools for interpreting reality.
