Learning outcomes |
The curricular unit presents a very significant practical and reflective component. The classes will be a space for discussion of texts and audiovisual materials, so that students can develop a critical sense in relation to the topics covered in the curricular unit. Taking into account the specificity of the curricular unit, students will have to a) Investigate on several themes and problems inherent to contemporary society. b) Read about the selected themes; c) Write arguments that critically support a point of view and defend it in debates; d) Understand the importance of sharing knowledge in the classroom.
- Students will have to, as a group, write arguments and prepare their presentation, in the form of a debate, in class.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The final grade is the result of the weighting of the marks obtained in these moments:
a) Individual written test conducted in the classroom (40%); b) Group presentation of a topic for classroom discussion (students may present films, documentaries, interviews, etc., followed by comments and questions for class discussion). Oral presentation in the debate: 30% c) Group work: drafting an argumentative text that serves as the basis for the debate (30%); in this text, students must justify the questions/problems presented for debate based on the research done to explore the chosen topic (what do the works of social scientists say about the topic/ investigative journalism/conclusions of studies/on the analysis and interpretation of data/statistical indicators...).
