Learning outcomes This course main aim is to give students a wide view of the cultural identities of Portuguese-speaking countries.
At the end of their training, students should be able to: understand the influence of Portuguese culture in the world; identify both similarities and singularities on the various Lusophone cultures; gather and handle operational concepts, tools and research processes crucial to the development of an academic work.
Syllabus A brief description of the teacher, the goals set, the program, the basic bibliography and evaluation system.
1. The Concepts of Culture, Lusophone, Lusography and Lusotropicalism.
2. From the formation of the Maritime Empire to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries: a synthetic view.
3. Study of the cultural identities of Portuguese Language Countries (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe and Timor). Idiosyncrasies and main names deepening in what concerns literature, painting, music, and cinema.
4. Macau and Lusophone.
5. Emigrant communities of Portuguese-speaking.
6. Globalization and Lusophone Cultures.
