Year 1
Semester S1
ECTS Credits 7
Workload S(30H)
Scientific area Ciência e Engenharia dos Materiais Fibrosos
Entry requirements Avaliação final será dada pela ponderação: 40% monografia e apresentação, 60% teste escrito final (integrador).
Learning outcomes This Curricular Unit is mandatory. It´s main objective is to promote the contact of doctoral students with various topics in the Science and Engineering of Fibrous Materials, notably, in the areas of: i) fundamental and applied research, ii) case studies of R&D in an industrial context, particularly in advanced materials and technologies iii) emerging products and technologies and future prospects. Adittionaly, it also seeks to:
1 - to deepen the doctoral student's training and critical spirit in the area of advanced fibrous materials;
2 - acquire updated knowledge and advanced skills in some topics relevant to the research area to be developed in the Thesis;
3 - develop skills for critical discussion on processes, methodologies and analysis of results of scientific research in this area, as well as R&D in the context of industrial research.
Syllabus Students will participate in Seminars given by researchers from academia and industry, in which R&D activities, case studies of products, processes and industrial solutions will be addressed, so as to identifyR&D opportunities, and consolidate a global view of of R&D trends in advanced fibrous materials.
Researchers from academic institutions that carry out relevant research activities in the area of fibrous materials, - national and/or foreign - will be invited, as well as researchers linked to technological innovation and development centers such as CENTI, CITEVE, RAIZ, or technology transfer such as COTEC, among others.
The person responsible for the course will establish the program and sequence of seminars proposed for each edition.
