Learning outcomes The discipline aims to introduce students to different algorithms and computational techniques used in Bioinformatics, with a focus on their practical application.

Specific objectives:
O1) Familiarization with algorithms and computational techniques currently used in Bioinformatics and their application to problem-solving in biology and medicine.
O2) Exploration of computational tools and databases of interest for problem-solving in Bioinformatics.
O3) Identification of research directions in Bioinformatics.
O4) Acquisition and/or reinforcement of soft skills such as teamwork, analytical and argumentative abilities, discussion of ideas with peers and faculty, ...

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Theoretical classes consist of the professor presenting the material followed by a discussion of the presented algorithms, supplemented with small theoretical-practical exercises. Practical classes involve the use of computers and group assignments. Students have the opportunity, guided by the professor, to use these tools and test different parameterizations.
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
