Learning outcomes To gain more in-depth knowledge about gender questions, as well as to practice a multifacetal reflection about these, in particular in the context of processes of social exclusion and as a major dimension in social policy; to examine recent developments in social life, legislation and attitudes of the Portuguese concerning gender-related items such as work-life balance and same-sex relationships. To draw comparisons between diverse societies, in an historical and in a contemporary perspective. To assess and interpret concrete cases. After completion of this course unit, the students will have the capacity to apply their acquired knowledge and skills in the processes of detection, diagnostics and solution of social problems.
