Learning outcomes Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data and information. Ability to plan and execute the tasks of information design projects. Ability to construct linear and multilinear communication models. Ability to communicate the selected information in a clear and accessible way. The knowledge and skills to develop methodologies to measure an infographic project quality. Critical attitudes and sense of autonomy toward data visualization and multimedia infographics.
Syllabus 1. Research: searching, collecting and selecting of information:
- The Internet as a means
- Journalism on the web
- Newspaper infographics
- Infographics planning
- Reference presentation templates.
2. Origins, applications, and definitions of information design:
- Multimedia infographic examples
- Information design methods and methodologies
- User experience and usability tests.
3. Multimedia design applied to infographics:
- Principles of synthesis and visual composition
- Visual ergonomics and color theory
- Usability, visual dynamics, and interactivity
- Data representation choice criteria
- Storytelling and storyboard development.
4. Multimedia production:
- Precise vector drawing and illustration
- Graphic animation for data and information
5. Programming and interactivity:
- Vector images for the screen
- XML, Java Script and D3.
