Learning outcomes	To explore the analytical methods used in analytical chemistry and biochemistry, with emphasis on chromatography and electrophoresis, electrochemical methods, methods of atomic spectroscopy and radiochemical methods as well as their equipment. The course will also explore experimental design. At the end of this curriculum unit the student should be able to: - Explain the principles and applications of different types of electrophoresis - Explain the basic principles and mode of operation of equipment used in absorption spectroscopy / atomic emission and select the most appropriate for solving a real case. - Explain the basic principles of operation of equipment commonly used in electrochemical methods and select the most suitable for a study case. - Explain the principles of chromatography, GC-MS and HPLC. - Explain the basic principles of radiochemical methods. - Apply experimental design to experiments.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria	Teaching in this course is structured around theoretical and practical classes. The theoretical classes, which are taught using audiovisual aids, provide an overview of the techniques studied, with special emphasis on the most important concepts for understanding them. Practical classes are held throughout the semester using the instrumental methods studied. There are also practical classes to solve exercises where knowledge is applied through problem-solving.
