Theoretical: A) Introduction to the general molecular basis of drug action: 1. Development of receptor agonists and antagonists, enzyme inhibitors and nucleic acid interacting agents 2. General relationship between drug structure and pharmacokinetics 3. Drug metabolism, chemical mechanisms of bioactivation and prodrugs B) For the major drug families of clinical interest, address: 1. Structures, nomenclature and main physicochemical properties 2. Discovery, development and general processes for their obtention 3. Molecular mechanisms of pharmacological action 4. Structure-activity relationships 5. Physico-chemical and structural aspects conditioning pharmacokinetics Practical / Laboratory: 1. Prediction of drug metabolism and prodrug development 2. Obtention of relevant drugs and / or their intermediates 3. Pharmaceutical and pharmacopoeial drugs analysis

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The theoretical and theoretical-practical teaching system is tutorial, including seminars and learning through concrete problems. There are also practical/laboratory classes.
a) Continuous assessment (mandatory): Classification (100%): 17% Freq.UP1 (T and TP), 17% Freq.UP2 (T and TP), 17% Freq.UP3 (T and TP), 17% Freq.UP4 (T and TP), 16% Laboratory, 16% Integrated (T and TP) In addition to the minimum attendance met, to grant attendance, it is mandatory to carry out the 6 assessments, have a minimum grade of 9.5 in the laboratory assessment, and have an average grade in the UC of no less than 6 out of 6. Exemption from the final exam if the final grade of the continuous assessment is 9.5 values or higher b) Final exam: - access to the final exam only with minimum attendance met with continuous assessment classification is 6 points or higher -includes all theoretical/theoretical-practical (84%) and laboratory (16%) content
