Learning outcomes Students should be able to understand and integrate information about the epidemiology and clinical presentation of the most prevalent diseases; comprehend the relationship between exposure to environmental toxins and the health consequences for populations; and recognize the importance of pharmacotherapeutic follow-up for patients, proposing interventions to optimize treatment.
Additionally, students should be able to consult drug information sources and perform a range of procedures (such as anthropometry, use of inhalation devices, insulin administration, spirometry, diabetic foot counseling, and skin phototype assessment) as well as measurements (including temperature, blood pressure and pulse, and blood glucose levels).
Students are also expected to participate appropriately and effectively in the community as public health professionals, promoting national health projects and programs and providing counseling on major health issues.
Syllabus Definition and interpretation of the fundamental concepts of health and disease, with identification of the main health needs and problems. Basic concepts of epidemiology, including indicators, types of studies, and epidemiological research. Clinical case discussions addressing major disorders and diseases across different body systems, with the development of prevention protocols, prescribed and non-prescribed drug therapies, non-pharmacological treatments, monitoring of efficacy and safety, and patient education.
The concept of pharmacotherapeutic follow-up is developed as an integrated activity within Pharmaceutical Care, with theoretical knowledge complemented by simulated practical activities that closely resemble real-world pharmaceutical practice settings.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The course unit will be evaluated on a scale from 0 to 200 points, corresponding to a maximum score of 20.
The theoretical/theoretical-practical assessment (175 points) includes 9 written tests, one for each teaching unit (AUP; 13 points), and 2 written tests based on integrated clinical cases (ACC; 29 points). These written tests consist of multiple-choice questions, multiple-response questions, or short open-ended questions.
To pass the theoretical/theoretical-practical component, students must achieve a minimum score of 88 points.
The practical assessment (25 points) includes 3 practical tests (ASK; 12 points), in which each student must individually perform all required techniques, and 2 group assignments (TG; 13 points).
The final grade corresponds to the sum of the scores obtained in each assessment component.
Students must achieve a minimum of 10 out of 20 to pass.
Language Portuguese. Tutorial support is available in English.
