Learning outcomes |
At the end of this unit it is intended that the student will be able to: Describe concepts and psychological processes relevant to medicine; Relate contents of psychology with medicine; Present the perspective of psychological development throughout the life cycle; Relate psychological development in childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age with clinical practice: attitudes, and doctor-patient communication and relationship. Define and characterize health psychology, its key concepts and domains; Describe behavioral and emotional aspects involved in health and disease; Explain the relationship between psychological factors, health behaviors and change; Describe the framework, basic concepts and models of interpersonal communication; Describe and discuss the importance of communication skills in the doctor-patient relationship, health promotion and the inter-professional relationships; Formulate own goals for learning and development in the field of communication skills.
