Learning outcomes The UC of Project II-2 has as fundamental objectives the approximation to the general problems of architecture and the deepening of the design method, through the construction and consolidation of individual working methodologies, the understanding of the concept as the essential basis of the architectural design and the development of representation practices. The skills to be acquired are:
To know how to define a concept idea;
To know how to build/speculate about a program;
To know how to analyze a territory and understand the project as a moment of synthesis;
To know how to define implementation strategies and volumetric definition;
To perceive the relations between public/private space; inside/outside; container/content...;
To produce hierarchical systems;
To propose simple building materials and systems in relation to design concepts;
To master the practices and processes of representation and improve ways of communicating ideas;
To know how to interpret/criticize a project.
Syllabus The main subject of Project II is the Housing, to be developed throughout the school year at different levels, first centered on the housing unit, then confronted with physical and social surroundings (living in community). The theme of housing will be understood in a speculative way, valuing its essential aspects and questioning the spaces that underlying its constitution. CASA will be investigated as a recipient of functions and dissected through different perspectives, not only to merely architectural: social, cultural, anthropological, among others. In addition, other topics will be addressed, namely the design of equipment and urban interventions of simple programmatic complexity.
