Learning outcomes To describe concepts and psychological processes relevant to medicine;To relate contents of psychology /behavioural sciences with medicine;To present the perspective of psychological development throughout the life cycle;To relate the characteristics of psychological development in childhood,adolescence, adulthood and old age with clinical practice: attitudes, and doctor-patient communication and relationship.To define and characterize health psychology, its key concepts and domains;To describe behavioral and emotional aspects involved in health and disease;To explain with reason the relationship between psychological factors, health behaviors and change;To describe the framework, basic
concepts and models of interpersonal communication;To describe and discuss the importance of communication skills in the doctor-patient relationship, health promotion and the inter-professional relationships;To formulate own
goals for learning and development in the field of communication skills

Syllabus PU1 - psychological development throughout the life cycle .Introductory aspects to the study of psychological
development. Cognitive and psychosocial development during childhood. Cognitive and psychosocial development during adolescence. Cognitive development in adulthood and old age. Developmental aspects and practice of medicine / clinical relationship. PU2 - Health Psychology. Introduction to health psychology. Stress, coping and health. Health behaviors and behavior change. Brief proactive counseling. PU3 - Psychology of health communication. Communication: framework and basic concepts. Communication skills and patient doctor relationship. Clinical interview. Basic communication skills in specific situations in clinical practice. Working in multidisciplinary settings.
