To provide a general perspective on the diversity of the communication services on the Internet To know the Internet support architecture and the underlying service protocols To install, operate and maintain cabled and wireless network technologies, active network equipments and Internet services. At the end of the Curricular Unit (CU) the student should have the skills necessary to: a) identify the components that integrate common computer networks, from local area networks to wide area networks; b) understand the way computer networks work, in particular regarding the layers 1 to 7 of the OSI model; c) be capable of planning and configure a local network and d) configure its active equipment, including e) its switches and routers.
