Learning outcomes The aim of the discipline is to promote knowledge of aspects relating to construction management, with particular interest for the practice of acts of engineering, through transmission of the following specific
competences:
a. Ability to supervise and to manage public and private works with knowledge of codes, responsibilities, project organization, planning and construction site supervision.
b. Ability to plan physical, human and financial resources;
c. Ability to perform cost estimation and work scheduling tools;
d. Understand the concepts and rules of construction works safety's plan;
e. Understand the concepts and professional tools related with the management and inspection of construction works;
Syllabus Theoretical
1 - Introduction to Construction Direction and Management
2 - Organization of construction contractors
3 - Project organization phases.
4 - Building codes and legislation.
5 - Preparation and control of works in contractor’s point of view. 6 - Coordination and Inspection of Works.
7 - Equipment for construction sites.
8 - Organization and installations for construction sites
9 – Work planning: work flow and resources scheduling. Cost estimation and control;
10 - Safety and Health - project and work execution phases
Practical
1 - Measurement of project and organization of specifications
2 - Project budgeting and preparation of the tender program
3 - Organization and implementation of construction site and construction planning and scheduling
