Learning outcomes The students must acquire an historical and comprehensive vision of the origins, stages and functions of media in society. Identify and understand the causes and the contexts of media evolution. Recongnise regularities and changes in the succeeding generations of technologies and its uses.

4. Modern press; Journalism as an industry and a profession
5. An everyday technology without borders: radio
6. Television, nation and globalization; The ecology of media
7. Internet, from military origins to interactive mobile communication
