Learning outcomes	1. To understand the fundamental methodological concepts of language theory. 2. To identify and to describe the main issues treated by the philosophy of language. 3. To familiarize with the different pragmatic approaches to language. 4. To problematize the interlinguistic relation regarding the translation. 5. To develop self-reflexive ability on language issues.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria	- Theoretical and practical classes with recourse to audiovisual material. - Evaluation through two mandatory written tests (50%+50%) performed during the semester. - Non-Portuguese speaking Erasmus students are assessed by the compulsory completion of two written assignments in English. - Students do not need to take the exam with 10 values and are admitted to the exam with the minimum classification of 6 values.
