Learning outcomes |
The main goals of this course unit are the introduction of optical geometrical and physical optics principles and their applications to the study of biological tissues and to nonionizing radiation based medical diagnosis.
By the end of this course unit the student should be able to:
- describe, analyse, and interpret the physical optics phenomena as well as the interaction of light with biological tissue
- make the connection between the phenomena and several biomedical optics diagnostic techniques.
This course unit intents also to give to the student the ability to prepare and to carry out laboratorial experiments and to work in team in order to apply the acquired knowledge and skills to practice, showing a good understanding of the potentialities and limitations of each method.
