Learning outcomes |
At the end of this course unit the student should be able to describe the study objects of anthropology and sociology, and their major research methods and techniques. He or she will have the capacity to apply the relevant concepts and theories of anthropology and sociology in clinical situations and in a framework of preventive medicine. He or she will show an awareness of, and respect for, the existence of different convictions and practices, depending on the various cultural settings. The student should be able to understand the interaction between social and biological factors and to point out the possible influence of level of education, type of work, gender, age and habitat on the health condition of a person or group. The student shall be able to caractherize sociologically medical profession and the hospital with a focus on power relations in them.
