Semester S2
ECTS Credits 6
Workload PL(30H)/T(30H)
Scientific area Construction
Entry requirements Knowledge of building physics and construction technology.
Learning outcomes The main objective of the curricular unit is to enable students to practice inspection, diagnosis and presentation of reports with intervention proposals for the rehabilitation of buildings with structural and non-structural anomalies, contributing to the acquisition of the following competences:
a) Ability in identifying the causes associated with the most frequent anomalies in structural and non-structural building elements.
b) Ability on the methodology of inspection and diagnosis of anomalies in buildings.
c) Recognition of the in-situ and laboratorial testing methods used in the diagnosis phase.
d) Knowledge of the current solutions for the rehabilitation of construction elements in buildings.
Syllabus 1) Incidence of pathological problems in construction.
2) Identification and analysis of pathologies in non-structural building elements.
3) Identification and analysis of pathologies in structural building elements.
4) Pathologies in buildings associated with humidity.
5) Pathologies in building facades.
6) Pathologies in reinforced concrete structures.
7) Pathologies in steel structures.
8) Pathologies in wooden elements.
9) Inspection, diagnosis and intervention methodology.
10) Methods for recording construction pathologies and writing technical reports.
11) In-situ and laboratory testing methods for diagnosis or monitoring.
12) Technical solutions for the rehabilitation of building construction elements.
13) Analysis of case studies of building rehabilitation.
