Learning outcomes |
The aim of this Curricular Unit is to provide students with advanced knowledge about the characteristics and classification of rock masses, as well as methodologies for evaluating the physico-mechanical properties of rock materials, required to solve geotechnical problems in civil engineering works on rock masses, contributing to the acquisition of the following competences: a) Domain of the geomechanically classifications of rock masses b) Domain of the physical and mechanical properties of the rock masses c) Domain of the physical-mechanical testing in rocks d) Understanding the resistance and deformability of rock masses

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
This one semester course consists of 60 hours of contact with the teaching team, 98 hours of autonomous work and 10 hours for evaluation (total: 168 hours). The course is credited with 6 ECTS. The course is structured with theoretical classes – T (exposition of the subjects of the course and presentation of small practical examples) and practical classes – PL (application of theoretical concepts to solve practical problems). The students' assessment is performed with a coursework, individual and with presentation and discussion.
