Learning outcomes |
Objectives: To understand the concepts related to industrial occupational health and safety (IOHS), as well as the normative and voluntary documents and management tools in IOHS domain. On the other hand, to acquire skills to identify, assess and prevent hazards, as well as to monitor and prevent the main hazards substances. Competences: (a) To Recognise and understand concepts and knowledge related to Industrial Occupational, Health and Safety; (b) To know the normative and voluntary documents s related to Industrial Occupational, Health and Safety. (c) To obtain knowledge related to implementation of Occupational, Health and Safety management systems at Work. (d) To obtain skills related to hazards identification and risk assessments. (e) To identify the main hazardous substances and the available methodologies for its assessment and prevention.

Syllabus |
The syllabus allows the student to understand the concepts related to industrial occupational health and safety (IOHS), as well as the normative and voluntary documents and the management tools in IOHS domain. On the other hand, it enables students to acquire skills to identify, assess and prevent hazards, as well as to monitor and prevent the main hazardous substances: Chapter 1 provides the student recognition and understanding concepts and knowledge related to Industrial Occupational, Health and Safety and to domain the normative and voluntary documents related to Industrial Occupational, Health and Safety; Chapter 1 also provides the student the ability to obtain knowledge related to implementation of Occupational, Health and Safety management systems at Work; Chapters 2 and 3 provide the student the ability to obtain skills related to hazards identification and risk assessments; Chapter 3 also provides the student the ability to elaborate monitoring and emergency plans.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
This curricular unit lasts for one semester course, with 64 hours of contact with the teacher, 86 hours of autonomous work and 10 hours for evaluation (total: 160 hours). The course is credited with 6 ECTS. The course is structured in theoretical-practical classes (TP), exposition of the subjects of the course, resolution of practical exercises and the development of an assignment. The evaluation is performed through two written tests (50%), one practical assignment in real work context (40%) and individual practical exercises to develop in class (10%).
