3d Advanced Modelation

Code 15434
Year 1
Semester S1
ECTS Credits 6
Workload OT(15H)/TP(45H)
Scientific area Science and Technology
Entry requirements Basic knowledge of 3D modelling
Learning outcomes Acquire advanced knowledge of 3D modeling using NURBS and Subdivision tools. Gain the ability to choose and use the most appropriate modeling tool to create a given 3D geometry in the course of modeling an object. Know how to transfer files between different 3D CAD applications throughout the process of modeling an object.
Have the ability to obtain quality photo-realistic images from 3D models.
Syllabus 1. Base:
3D modeling with contact continuity, tangency and curvature between surfaces. Obtaining 3D models based on sketches drawn manually and placed in the background. NURBS topology poly-surface deformation tools. Modeling of organic forms using Subdivision tools. Combination of NURBS modeling and Subdivision modeling in the creation of a 3D model. Possibilities and limitations of transferring files between CAD applications. Types of files used to exchange models between CAD applications and computer machining.
Analysis tools for surface quality in 3D models. Creation of photo-realistic images in dedicated applications. Lighting practice and use of materials containing diffuse, reflective and emissive layers in the creation of photo-realistic images from 3D models.
2. Practice:
During the semester, practical exercises to apply the knowledge acquired in the discipline.
3. Project:
Carrying out students' personal work throughout the semester

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Assessment by frequency

maximum number of absences from classes - 3 absences

two assessment tests

1st test on November 6th during class (0 -10 points)

2nd test on January 8th during class (0-10 points)

The final classification by frequency is the sum of the classifications of the two tests, with the minimum classification in each test being 3 values

Assessment by exam

maximum number of absences from classes - 3 absences

The exam has two parts, relating to the two parts of the subject

Part 1 (0 -10 values)

Part 2 (0-10 values)

The final classification per exam is the sum of the two parts of the test, with the minimum classification in each part being 3 points
