Year 2
Semester S1
ECTS Credits 6
Workload TP(60H)
Scientific area Ciência Política e Relações Internacionais
Entry requirements This course assumes that students have basic knowledge of research methods in Political Science and International Relations, acquired in previous courses.
Learning outcomes This course aims to develop the following skills:

1- Understand research in Political Science and International Relations through the critical analysis of articles and the application of methodological knowledge.
2- Master the analysis of academic articles by identifying fundamental elements (research question, theoretical framework, methodology, argumentation, contributions, and limitations) and understanding the logic of scientific investigation.
3- Develop critical thinking by questioning and evaluating research and methodological approaches, identifying biases, formulating personal arguments, and debating different perspectives.
4- Apply critical analysis to solve research challenges through practical exercises, solving problems and proposing solutions to complex issues in political analysis.
5- Foster collaborative work and debate around academic articles, promoting the sharing of ideas and active group learning.
Syllabus The course adopts a dynamic and flexible approach, centered on the thematic interests of the students. The contents are defined collaboratively between the teacher and the students, adapting to their preferences. The selected articles serve as a starting point for students to deepen their understanding of the research process through critical reading, group discussions, and practical exercises. This helps them develop critical analysis skills and reflect on the decisions made by researchers and the challenges they face. Collaborative work and active peer learning are central elements of this course.
