Learning outcomes |
This course unit aims to familiarise the students with the origins of the political parties and the pressure groups, with both their organisational structures and ideological profiles. The interaction between political parties will be approached within the framework of the political systems study. The CU will provide the students with a strong theoretical preparation that will enable: to understand the role of the political parties and the pressure groups: to read the signs through the observation in the field; to integrate the political parties and the pressure groups in typologies and anticipate future behaviours; to recognise and assess the agency’s multi-fold structural constraints, in the precise case of the political and pressure organisations; to understand the functioning of the structure-agency within the party systems; to handle the technical vocabulary of the unit in what concerns both the written and oral expression.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The course unit will be taught in the form of seminars. Each seminar requires the preparation of a previously distributed text and the discussion, in the classroom, of the questions addressed by the text. The weekly performance of each student will be evaluated and publicized.
