Learning outcomes -- The students must acquire an historical and comprehensive vision of the origins and functions of political communication in contemporary societies.
-- 1) To delimitate the concept of political communication; 2) To identify and to describe the main models of political communication in contemporary societies; 3) To examine and to evaluate the role of the mass media in the making of the political communication.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria - The teaching methodology makes possible to attain the main objectives defined to this curricular unit. Through the analysis of real political communication case studies, through the reading and comment of mass media articles and the group discussion and analyses of relevant political communication related topics, the students will be endowed of useful knowledge to the development of the their ability to research, to argue and to solve problems related to this curricular unit. Through the elaboration of group discussions about paradigmatic political communication cases, students will improve their critical sense and interpretative capabilities. In turn, the written test will allow teacher to validate if the student acquired the competences in terms of knowledge, understanding and applicability of the syllabus.
