Learning outcomes The curricular unit aims to provide an introduction to Public International Law, as well as develop interpretive skills to solve practical issues in this area. The focus is on a concrete analysis of the issues, through the study of jurisprudence and international practice and not merely the normative prescriptions.
Syllabus 1. Formation, evolution, foundations, characteristics and framework of the DIP;
2. Relationship between the DIP and the domestic law of the States;
3. Sources of DIP Law:
3.1. International conventions, in particular.
4. Subjects of DIP;
5. Direct and indirect control over public international law;
6. International responsibility of States and Individuals;
7. Methods for resolving international conflicts and use of force by States;
8. International Humanitarian Law

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Classes operate on a theoretical-practical basis. A theoretical exposition will be made on the syllabus, which will be followed by an application of knowledge, through the resolution of practical cases, individually or together, coherently formulated and preferably requiring the consultation and interpretation of normative texts.
