The main objective of the curricular unit is to introduce students to the main theories developed in International Security Studies and the conventional and unconventional dimensions of global insecurity. Particular relevance will be given to the analysis of disciplinary evolution, main currents of thought in security studies, the evolution of the concept of security and, finally, security actors.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
472 / 5.000 The methodology adopted for the teaching-learning process is based on the combination of expository classes in which the main concepts, theories and methodologies of security studies will be analyzed, followed by a seminar where previously assigned scientific articles will be discussed together with the students.
The UC assessment is weighted based on 3 (three) individual assessment elements: a book review, a mini-class and a scientific article.
