Learning outcomes |
At the end of the course, the student must: Be able to recognize and interpret schematics and diagrams referring to electronic circuits, both analogue and digital, including input/output cards and systems with sensors and actuators. Know the main computer technologies and their functionalities with application in the textile and clothing industry (ITV). Interpret publications in order to accompany the development of emerging technologies, such as Industry 4.0, Smart Factory, IoT, wearable technologies, intelligent textiles, among others

Syllabus |
Theoretical classes: Notions of analogue and digital electronics; digital computer architecture (central unit and peripherals). Notions of programming at low level (Assembly) and high level (C, Python or others). Data acquisition (sensors) and equipment control (actuators). Computer applications for production and quality control. Human-computer interaction; ergonomics. Emerging technologies with application in ITV: Industrial Automation, CAD/CAM/CIM, Virtual/Augmented Reality, IoT, Wearable Technologies, Industrial Robotics. Smart Factory; Industry 4.0
Practical classes: Bibliographic research and small projects execution, namely using simulation software. Analysis of input/output charts and associated interfaces. Analysis of commercial software/hardware applications used in the industry. Lectures by invited entities. Visits to manufacturing facilities.
