Entry requirements This training is aimed at psychologists or students studying for a master's degree in clinical psychology.
Learning outcomes - Developing skills in psychological assessment of people with dementia.
- Select, administer and rate assessment instruments applicable to people with dementia and interpret the results.
- Reflect on ethical and deontological issues relating to psychological assessment and intervention with people with dementia.
- Characterize dementias and describe their psychological impact.
- Identify and describe appropriate approaches to intervention in dementia settings.
Syllabus 1 - DCL and Dementia(s): psychological perspective.
- Normative and pathological cognitive ageing;
- The most prevalent neurocognitive disorders;
- Course of different dementias

2 - Assessment tools and techniques for people with CLD and dementia
- Cognitive screening and premorbid intelligence;
- Assessment of memory, language and executive functions;
- Behavioral symptoms and emotional changes.

3 - Psychological intervention strategies with people with DCL and dementia
- Cognitive stimulation;
- Communication strategies with people with dementia;
- Management of behavioral symptoms.
