Learning outcomes In this course unity it is expected that the students learn how to develop an experimental research project in the area of Industrial Chemistry and how to communicate the results obtained, both in report form and orally, in academic context.
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- Apply good laboratory practice previously acquired.
- Search new techniques and laboratory implement them in a laboratory context.
- Apply previously acquired knowledge in solving new and unfamiliar problems.
- Have ability to integrate knowledge and handle complex issues.
- Communicate the knowledge and reasoning behind them, at both experts as non-specialists.
- Acquire self-learning capabilities in a self-directed or autonomous way.
Syllabus Development of a laboratory research project in the area of Industrial Chemistry with fundamental or applied nature, in the University and/or preferably in partnership with companies and chemical industries. Preparation of the dissertation and its oral presentation, according to the rules established for the degree of Master in Industrial Chemistry.
Main Bibliography The bibliography will depend on the subject chosen by each student and will be recommended by the respective supervisor.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The work developed in this course unit is guided by a PhD. professor. Guidance can be provided under co-supervision, being one of the tutors assigned to UBI. The final dissertation or project is evaluated in accordance with paragraphs 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the Article 12 of the Rules for the Master Degree of the University of Beira Interior, i.e., before a public audience and by a jury of 3 to 4 elements. The dissertation or project work is evaluated by the members of the jury in accordance with the rules defined by the course committee for the current year.
